Ambler Farm Offers Summer Adventure Camp for Children … and Something PIG is Happening!
Ambler Farm Summer Camp in Wilton, CT is Now Registering

Ambler Farm’s unique “Adventures at the Farm” Summer Program is now open for registration (children from pre-school age through 7th grade). And this year, there are two “special” new campers!
Ambler Farm recently acquired two adolescent American Guinea Hogs from their friends at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. The pigs, arriving Sunday, April 30th, will join Ambler Farm’s other resident animals – baby chicks, ducks, turkeys, sheep, goats and rabbits – to provide engaging opportunities for children to interact and learn.
Summer campers, school groups, scout troops, and farm visitors will be able to interact with these little ladies in Ambler Farm’s new pig enclosure. While these new resident pigs are young (born in the summer of 2016), they will eventually reach their adult weight of 150 – 200 pounds. All of the animals at Ambler Farm are cared for by a dedicated staff of volunteers, along with the Farm’s apprentices in grades 5 – 12.

“The pigs are a great addition to our growing family of resident animals. Our campers will have the opportunity for hands-on engagement by helping to feed and care for the pigs,” said Kevin Meehan, Ambler Farm’s Program Director. “The pigs are exceptionally calm and friendly, making them an excellent choice for small sustainable family farms such as Ambler Farm.”
Ambler Farm’s unique summer program provides an opportunity for students to experience farm life. Also as part of the summer program, children will learn about the plants in Ambler Farm’s educational gardens while working directly in the gardens. Each week, students will take part in activities including: woodworking, hayrides, planting, harvesting, hands-on projects, caring for the animals and cooking. Children are grouped by grade levels for appropriate activities, which will change each week for variety.
