American Legion Post 86 and Wilton Police Department Recognized
Annual American Legion Convention Honors Local Police and Veterans

The American Legion Department of Connecticut held our 101st Annual Convention, at the Trumbull Marriott, Friday, July 12-Sunday, July 14, 2019. In addition to conducting Legion business and electing new officers for the year, the annual National and Department awards are handed out.
This year, Post 86 nominated the Wilton Police Department (WPD) for Police Department of the Year in Connecticut. It was awarded to WPD for "...performance in the field of Children and Youth, Drug Education, Community Awareness Projects and participation in Patriotic Observances". It was well deserved and Wilton should be proud of our Police Department and all our officers.
Post 86 Past Sergeant-at-Arms Sean McNeill, who is now our Finance Officer, was recognized with the Peter Loux Sergeant-at-Arms of the Year Award, for exemplifying "the highest values of service to the American Legion, Community, State and Nation, along with excellence and leadership." Besides his duties as Sgt.-at-Arms, Sean spearheads the Post Toys for Tots collection, in addition to coordinating local business collections. He is always out front at parades, picnics and Color Guard duties.
