According to police, the driver used a vehicle to block the path of another vehicle, causing it to stop abruptly. Police said the driver then became verbally abusive and prevented the occupants from leaving while accusing them of taking an item from an estate sale.

The driver was charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, coercion, second-degree breach of peace, reckless driving, passing in a no-passing zone and creating a traffic hazard, police said.

Authorities said the individual was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 11.
