Mass. Man Extradited In Wilton Copper, Scrap Metal Theft Case: Police

Police said the suspect was linked to thefts dating back to December 2024 after officers recognized his vehicle.

WILTON, CT — A Massachusetts man has been extradited to Connecticut after Wilton police said investigators linked him to a series of scrap metal and copper thefts dating back to late 2024.

According to the Wilton Police Department, officers arrested two people for trespassing at a commercial business during the early morning hours in August 2025.

Police said officers recognized the suspects' vehicle as matching the description of one that had been involved in thefts of scrap metal and copper from the same business in December 2024 and January 2025.

Working with detectives, investigators were able to connect one of the suspects arrested in August 2025 to the earlier thefts, police said.

An arrest warrant was obtained, and the suspect was extradited Tuesday from Massachusetts on multiple larceny and trespassing charges, according to police.

Police credited the business owners for providing "timely and actionable information" that helped investigators, and thanked law enforcement partners in Massachusetts for holding the suspect as a fugitive from justice and coordinating the extradition.
