Mass. Man Extradited In Wilton Copper, Scrap Metal Theft Case: Police

WILTON, CT — A Massachusetts man has been extradited to Connecticut after Wilton police said detectives linked him to a series of scrap metal and copper thefts at the same Danbury Road business dating back to December 2024.

George Jerry Bimbo, 37, of Woburn, Massachusetts, was transported to Connecticut on Tuesday after waiving extradition following his arrest in Massachusetts on a fugitive from justice warrant, according to the Wilton Police Department.

The investigation began Jan. 16, 2025, when officers responded to Findorak, John & Sons Inc. on Danbury Road for a commercial burglary complaint.

Police said Ring camera footage showed a maroon minivan occupied by two suspects pulling into the rear of the property before approximately $3,000 worth of equipment was reported stolen.

Investigators also determined the business had been targeted less than a month earlier. Police said about $6,000 worth of scrap metal and copper wire was stolen during a Dec. 23, 2024, incident.

According to police, officers were dispatched back to the business on Aug. 7, 2025, after two men were found trespassing while the property was closed. One of those men was identified as Bimbo.

Officers recognized that the maroon minivan the men arrived in matched the vehicle captured in the Ring footage from the earlier theft investigation.

Police said a search warrant for Bimbo's cellphone later placed him in the area during the earlier thefts. Investigators also identified him as the person seen walking on the property in January surveillance footage.

An arrest warrant was issued in November 2025, but police said efforts to locate Bimbo were initially unsuccessful because of jurisdictional limitations. He was later stopped by Wilmington Police in Massachusetts and held as a fugitive from justice before waiving extradition to Connecticut.

Bimbo is charged with two counts of third-degree larceny and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass. Police said he was unable to post his $75,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Stamford Superior Court.

Wilton police thanked the Wilmington Police Department, the Middlesex Sheriff's Office and the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office in Massachusetts for assisting with Bimbo's arrest and return to Connecticut.
