New Year, New Sport!

Aspetuck Valley Rugby club is pleased to announce a free winter training camp for all boys interested in learning about one of Americas fastest growing sports. The training sessions will be held in Newtown at NYA Sports and Fitness, 4 Primrose Street, Newtown CT on Sunday afternoons 3.30-5.30 starting January 10. Sessions will cover rugby skills, game play and conditioning. Worried about size or athletic ability? Rugby is an enormously inclusive sport suited to all shapes and sizes. The club’s mission is to develop a love of the game irrespective of previous sporting experience and welcomes all comers willing to have a go.

Haven’t heard of us? Aspetuck is a highly successful independent local club based in Redding. In existence since 2012 it has become one of the best local teams, committed to coaching and developing skills in boys from age 8 through high school. Team members come from many local towns including Bethel, Redding, Weston, Ridgefield, Easton and Wilton. Local families from South Africa, Australia, Bermuda, Ireland and the UK are also represented making Aspetuck rugby a great opportunity to forge new friendships and escape the bubble of local town or school based sports. According to George Edwards 15, of Ridgefield, “Aspetuck is like family, we hang out in the off-season, watch international games together, it’s awesome and so much more fun than football ever was…”

Aspetuck is dedicated to developing rugby skills in individuals who are new to the game in a safe and rewarding environment. The majority of players who come to Aspetuck have had no rugby experience before joining. Played before? Our experienced coaches will take your game to a whole new level. Some of our boys have gone on to play rugby in college, some have attended prestigious collegiate camps, others just like to hang out playing pick up games with friends.

Parents can be assured Aspetuck’s USA Rugby Certified Coaches have safety foremost in mind and coach appropriate to the age and experience of their players.
