BTC Presents: THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

Bridgeport Theatre Company continues its fifth season with the high-energy musical comedy THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, running Apr 24-May 9, 2015 at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill Street, Downtown Bridgeport. Under the Artistic Direction of Eli Newsom, Bridgeport Theatre Company operates in residence and presents the Community Theatre Series for the Downtown Cabaret Theatre.

Thoroughly Modern Millie, the winner of six TONY Awards including Best Musical, and based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, takes us back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when “moderns”—including a flapper named Millie Dillmount—were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce, and rewriting the rules of love. And tap dancing. This high-spirited musical comedy is a valentine to the long-standing spirit of New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.

The cast of local performers includes principal actors Laura Piacenza as Millie Dillmount, Chelsea Dacey as Miss Dorothy, Eric Regan as Jimmy, Marc Improta as Trevor Graydon III, Lauren Linn as Mrs. Meers, Mark Andrew Garner as Ching Ho, Jonathan David as Bun Foo, and Saige Bryan as Muzzy von Hossmere. The ensemble includes (in alphabetical order): Avery Bebon, Josh Cardozo, Lisa DeAngelis, Paul Goodman, Angela Jackson, Lindsay Johnson, Mike Katz, Emma LaPlace, Kalle Meehan, Nicole Monahan, Elisa Pasqua, Juliana Rivera, Olivia Rivera, Claire Regan, Caitlin Roberts, and Timothy Sullivan.

The production will feature Direction by Christy Newsom, Choreography by Emily Frangipane, Musical Direction by Clay Zambo, Set Design by Leif Smith, Costume Design by Jessica Camarero, Lighting Design by Phill Hill, Technical Direction by Don Rowe, and Sound Design by Chris Gensur. Sarah Iannarone serves as resident Production Stage Manager for BTC.

The performance schedule for THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE will be as follows: Apr 24-May 9. Fridays @ 8pm: Apr 24, May 1, & 8. Saturdays @ 5pm & 8:30pm: Apr 25, May 2 & 9. Sundays @ 5pm: Apr 26 & May 3. There will be a preview performance on Thursday Apr 23 @ 8pm, where all tickets are just $18. Seating begins 45 minutes before showtime, and an attended parking lot is available across from the theater on Golden Hill St.

Tickets are $28 for adults, $23 for seniors, and $18 for students and children. Concessions will be available for purchase throughout each performance and patrons are encouraged to pack picnics (BYO everything format) for the full ‘Cabaret experience’. Following THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, BTC’s 2014/15 mainstage season will conclude with the Aaron Sorkin play A FEW GOOD MEN, May 22-31, and the 2015 PLAYATHON on June 5 will close out the season. Next season BTC will be merging operations with the Downtown Cabaret Theatre and assume a new moniker, the Mainstage Theatre division of DCT.
