Rose-Marie’s work is influenced by the 16 years she spent living in China. “The beauty and grandeur of the Chinese countryside is in my memory vision, as are the brush strokes and use of paint and ink and sensitivity of China’s artists’ hands,” says Rose-Marie. “I often work on Plexiglas and paint both sides simultaneously using both hands - engaging movement and depth. Some works are quiet contemplations of small movements of sky, water, wind - some note the stillness of early morning or late night filled with its mystery of becoming. It is part of human nature to express oneself and it is a drive that cannot be suppressed. I had seen this first hand when travelling in communist and totalitarian countries in the 70’s; the artists still brought forth their voices even though the government was severely stifling them. They voiced in oblique ways what they felt - how they thought - who they were.” Returning to the US and wanting to further develop her craft, Rose-Marie has studied for several years at Silvermine Arts Center in Norwalk.

Admission and parking are free. Refreshments will be served.
