Conn. Post: Rough Housing Market Deals Tough Hands
Sputtering real estate sales not only hurt realtors and towns, but a number of other fringe businesses as well.
A great portion of the almost $1.5 million decline in revenue Wilton reported earlier this year was due to decreased real-estate-related fees and services.
And it appears that the town of Wilton is not the only one suffering from this sapped business.
The Connecticut Post reports that many business owners who used to rely on appraisals and inspections have been forced to turn to alternative income streams in the depressed housing market. Kenny Rhodes, owner of Wilton-based Advantage Home Inspections, for example, is turning to his baby-proofing consulting business to make ends meet during the recession.
