Convicted Wilton Sex Offender Could Face New Jail Time: Report
Former Norwalk school teacher John R. Tate was convicted of sexually assaulting a student in 2010.
WILTON, CT — John R. Tate, a former Brien McMahon High School teacher convicted of sexual assault, could return to prison if a judge rules that he has violated the terms of his probation, reports the Stamford Advocate.
According to the publication, Tate, who currently lives in Wilton, is accused of several instances where he violated probation. Some of the violations include looking into moving out of state without notifying his probation officer, and having bottles of alcohol in his home, which were discovered during a spot check. He is prohibited from having alcohol.
Tate was convicted in the 2010 sexual assault of a former student at the school. He served a year in prison and had seven years of that term suspended. Additionally, he was placed on probation for 20 years, and had to register as a sex offender.
