Coyote Vs. Dog Encounter Temporarily Closes Norwalk River Valley Trail In Wilton: Cops
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon.

WILTON, CT — A dog fought with a coyote on the Wilton Loop of the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) Saturday afternoon, prompting police to temporarily close the trail.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. south of Sharp Hill Road, and contrary to initial reports, the dog was not injured during the encounter.
"The involved dog was leashed, however, broke free of its owner upon observation of the coyote," wrote Wilton police in a statement. "At the present time, the Wilton Loop of the NRVT remains closed. The Wilton Police Department Animal Control Officer is working closely with representatives of the NRVT to ensure a safe re-opening of the trail for all its users and pets.
