Danbury Line Delayed Due To Nearby Car Crash: UPDATE

A one-car crash delayed the Danbury Line Thursday morning.

WILTON, CT — Riders on the Danbury branch experienced service delays mid-day Thursday due to a one-car crash just north of Cannondale Train Station.Lt. Robert Kluk of the Wilton Police Department told Patch that delays were caused by a one-car crash that occurred near the train tracks. Kluk said the crash occurred on Mather Street which runs parallel to the tracks.

As of 2:00 p.m. Thursday the Danbury Line was back up and running and the crash has been cleared.

Due to the proximity of the crash to the train tracks, the trains have been delayed so that the crash can be safely cleared.

Nobody was injured as a result of the crash. Kluk said train service would return as soon as the crash was cleared, although it is not yet clear when that will be.

The Metro-North Railroad added via Twitter that more announcements would be forthcoming. The police activity was first announced just after 11:15 a.m.
