District II Defeats District III, 2-1, In CHSCA Title Game

Trinity Catholic's Ryan Walsh doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, as the District II All-Stars defeated District III, 2-1, Thursday in the championship game of the 37th annual CHSCA All-Star series at Plainville High School.
Adam Cherry of Pomperaug, whose team won its first state championship with a 2-1 win Xavier in the Class LL title game on Sunday, scored the winning run for District II.
Cherry, who will played collegiately at La Salle University, struck out six in three perfect innings on the mound.

Staples' David Speer followed with three scoreless innings. Walsh picked up the win despite giving up the tying run in the top of the seventh.
Ridgefield's Mark Giles, who had two hits and RBI in District II's 4-1 semifinal win over District II on Tuesday, also played in Thursday's final but went hitless.
