Erin Cavanaugh, 54, Teacher Aide at Miller Driscoll School

An obituary from Collins Funeral Home:

Erin Marie Cavanaugh, 54, of Norwalk, Connecticut passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at the Norwalk Hospital.

Erin was born on Oct. 12, 1960 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the late Eveline D. and Leo R. Cavanaugh, Jr. She graduated from Central Catholic High School of Norwalk in 1978.

Erin was employed as inventory manager at Petro of Stamford, CT for 15 years, during which time she completed her bachelor’s degree in accounting at Pace University.

Erin eventually was called to try a new field and became a paraprofessional working one on one with elementary children on the spectrum. She was hired by the Wilton School District in the Miller-Driscoll School. She loved her work with the children, easily forging a connection with her students.

Erin is survived by her siblings, Lisa of Wawarsing, NY and Peter of Norwalk, as well as her beloved nephew Etienne Dodge of Greenville, NC. She was also “aunt” to her close friends’ children and to her godchildren.

In addition to her parents, Erin was predeceased by her brothers Daniel and Michael Cavanaugh.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Internment of ashes in the Cavanaugh family plot, as well as scattering of ashes will take place at later dates.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Whittingham Cancer Center at the Norwalk Hospital. Flowers are also appreciated.
