Weston Little League Donations to Benefit Kids in Dominican Republic

Dear Weston Little League Family: The Board of your little league is planning THE MOST important closing ceremony to a baseball season that we ever had.  ALL our kids.  I'm calling for every child who  is in our Fall Season to come out and participate in something special.   Something that they won't soon forget.  On Saturday October 29th at noon.  Our kids will line the base paths at Bisceglie  and  in unison,  remove their jerseys  and donate it to specific kids that aren't as fortunate as ours. The kids play in a league called "Adonia".  It's in  La Union,   which is a city in the  Dominican Republic.  The DR is one of the poorest countries  in the Caribbean.  (Average household income is less than $9000 per year). But many of the kids' families in this league have income well below their  national average. It's  a league of 168 kids who play with  tattered baseballs, and other equipment that we would find unusable.  Their photos will be at the field. I have spoken with Jose Luis who runs their league they are beside themselves, so grateful,  that this may happen.   We want to offer these kids "the shirts off our backs."    Can you imagine…  Every one of OUR little league kids comes out and ceremoniously takes off his shirt and hat and knows that we are sending this season's uniforms to be used by teams, by kids,  who NEVER had a uniform. This will be a great experience for OUR children. Please make every effort to have your child there participating in this unique event.  The moment will be captured by local media.   Additionally. Most of the kids in this league play barefoot or in flip flops.  Some wear shoes that do not fit.   If you have CLEATS  that are in decent shape.  PLEASE bring them that day.  If you have bats, or helmets or gloves that you can spare.  PLEASE bring them.  And if anyone would like to buy new equipment and donate it.  That too would be wonderful..
