Florida Man Charged With Credit Card Skimming in Wilton: Police

Police say the victim's credit card was used to make numerous purchases in Connecticut.

WILTON, CT — A Florida man is facing multiple credit card and identity theft charges after turning himself in to Wilton police for skimming a credit card.

Julio Mirabet, 27, of Hialeah, FL, turned himself in to Wilton Police last week on an active arrest warrant. Police say that Mirabet skimmed a victim's credit card, and proceeded to make multiple purchases with it, most of which were in Wilton.

The Norwalk Hour reports the man is suspected to be a part of a Cuban criminal ring. The report indicates that Mirabet charged a total of $7,821 to a Wilton couple's credit card.

Mirabet was charged with 13 counts of credit card theft and 13 counts of second-degree identity theft. He was held by police on a $25,000 bond.

Mirabet was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 31.
