Funds Being Raised for Victims of Georgetown Fire

Residents are rallying in support of a Wilton couple whose barn was destroyed in a fire Sunday night.

WILTON, CT — As the victims of Sunday night's barn fire try to rebuild and move forward, residents are rallying to support them.

A gofundme page has been started in an effort to support the couple, who's Church Street barn caught fire. According to a report from The News Times, the couple narrowly avoided disaster and were able to escape with non life-threatening injuries.

"A Wilton family lost everything when their barn caught fire on Sunday evening, March 19th. The man jumped from a second floor window and saved his wife with a ladder," reads the gofundme campaign started by Gina Giannone of Fairfield. "Both were treated for smoke inhalation / burns. The fund is to help them rebuild and assist with lost income for this hard working couple"

Three people were hospitalized as a result of the fire, including a firefighter who suffered minor injuries. The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The report further indicated that the woman suffered from smoke inhalation and the man suffered burns on his hands. Nearly a dozen friends joined to search the barn for any surviving belongings.
