Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as at home, at work or in a park).
Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don't be afraid. Your actions can only help!

FAQs
Are there registration requirements?
Yes. It is important that each student be given adequate time and instruction with an instructor. We need to know in advance as to how many participants to expect, to ensure we have enough manikins and instructors on hand, thereby making advanced registration required. Additionally, OLF has a maximum capacity of 135 occupants including OLF and WVAC staff and volunteers, so we need to plan accordingly. Further, please see below for the age restrictions for attending this paticular class.
Are there any age restrictions for attending this class?
This class is specifically for children and teens, grades 5 though 12 or ages 9 to 17. The ability to perform CPR is based more on body strength than age. Studies have shown that children as young as 9 can learn and retain CPR skills. That being said, we personally believe that the earlier kids get their hands on manikins and practice the basics, the more second nature it will become for them should they ever need to refer to these skills in a real world experience. Just teaching a child the mechanics of pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest is better than doing nothing at all. If they have the ability to listen and follow direction, they are a good candidate for this class.
What are my parking options for the event?
There is ample parking on site.
What should I bring to the event?
Just bring yourself, your energy, and your willingness to learn!
Is there a cost associated with this event?
No. Since there are no certifications associated Hands Only CPR from the AHA or the Red Cross, there are no costs to process certification cards or hand out pocket masks. However, WVAC is 100% a volunteer organization, and not a department within the scope of the Town of Wilton, and we rely heavily on donations from the community. WVAC is a 501(c)3 organization and your donations are always appreciated. When you register, you will have the opportunity to make a donation to the Corps.
Who can I contact with any questions?
You may contact Brian McDermott, WVAC Vice President and Community Relations and Special Events Coordinator at Events@wiltonambulance.org. Additionally, Mara Fleming, Coordinator of Youth Ministry at OLF at fatimayouthk8@gmail.com.
