Hit-And-Run, Fraud, Top Wilton Police Blotter For June 17-23, 2024

WILTON, CT — A hit-and-run and the resolution of a fraud investigation were at the top of the Wilton Police Department's blotter this past week.

Police have arrested a suspect in a two-year-old fraud case.

In August 2022, a Wilton resident told the police that an account had been fraudulently opened under her name. Following their investigation, Wilton police arrested Brittney Harris, 33, of Cardinal Street in Fairfield on June 23. Harris was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft, and was released after posting her $25,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 3.

On June 18, a bail enforcement agent turned Carolyn Cook, 58, of Pembroke Street in Bridgeport over to the Wilton Police Department on both first- and second degree-warrants for failure to appear in Stamford Superior Court in May 2024. Cook had been charged with third-degree larceny and possession of controlled substances. She was processed, fingerprinted and photographed on both warrants, and held on a total of $50,000 bond ($25,000 for each warrant), which she was unable to post, according to police. Cook was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 20.

The Wilton Police Department is looking for the public's assistance in a hit-and-run case.

A 68-year-old Norwalk man was struck by a vehicle while crossing from the east side of Mail Coach Drive to the west side, at its intersection with Musket Ridge Road. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Musket Ridge Road. The pedestrian told police he was hit by the vehicle on his right leg, which caused him to fall and strike his head on the ground. He was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Wilton EMS due to his injuries.

Police searched the area and could find no vehicle with damage consistent with the accident.

The Wilton Police Department is asking residents of the area to check their surveillance cameras and report any vehicles traveling on Musket Ridge Road towards Mail Coach on June 21 between 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to Wilton Police Officer Jeton Ejupi at 203-834-6260.
