Homes with Hope Announces New Leadership

The Rev. Peter R. Powell is retiring after 22 years as executive director.

Homes with Hope has announced Cathy J. Cohen of Leeds, Mass., will serve as the organization's interim executive director when the Rev. Peter R. Powell retires in mid-January, according to a news release.

Powell has led Homes with Hope for the past 22 years. The organization works to combat homelessness in Westport, Weston and Wilton.

Cohen has more than 20 years of experience in organizational management, consulting, writing and technical editing. She has held senior management positions in healthcare, provider groups and nonprofit organizations.  Her most recent assignment was as interim executive director at the Immaculate Conception Shelter and Housing Corporation in Hartford.

Cohen's primary focus at Homes with Hope will be to help refine the organization's growth plans and fundraising strategy, according to the release.  A graduate of Temple University, she received her masters in business administration from the University of Massachusetts with a concentration in marketing and finance.

According to John Walsh, chairman of the organization's board of directors, the board is actively searching for a full-time replacement for Powell and "believes that hiring an interim executive director is a logical step in the transition process."
