Jazz in the Garden Returns at Weir Farm

WILTON, CT., -- Jazz in the Garden at Weir Farm, featuring The Brubeck Brothers Quartet returns Sunday, September 18, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Sponsored by Weir Farm Art Center and hosted by Weir Farm National Historic Site, Jazz in the Garden receives generous support from Bankwell in Wilton, the Karen and William Tell Foundation, with special thanks to Catherine and Ed Romer, and media sponsor TownVibe Media. Proceeds benefit the Artist-in-Residence program administered by the Weir Farm Art Center, which draws talented artists from around the world, giving them a chance to create in the inspirational landscape of Weir Farm National Historic Site.

“This year marks the 100^th birthday of the National Park Service,” notes Janice Hess, Executive Director of Weir Farm Art Center, who adds that both the Art Center and Weir Farm National Historic Site are excited to welcome back The Brubeck Brothers Quartet, with Chris Brubeck on bass and trombone, Dan Brubeck on drums, Chuck Lamb on piano and Mike DeMicco on guitar to help celebrate the occasion.

Chris Brubeck says, “I'm excited to return to play with The Brubeck Brothers Quartet at Weir Farm for the "Jazz in The Garden" series. It is always meaningful to us when we can create music for the hometown crowd, evoking the powerful memories of nearly 20 years of jazz concerts at this beautiful venue. I've always said that playing in the Weir Farm garden on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, looking out onto a crowd of smiling friends and familiar faces, watching the children dancing, twirling, and playing with balloons always feels like a slice of Norman Rockwell's America.”

To preserve and protect the park, all parking for the event will be at the Branchville Elementary School at 40 Florida Road, off of Rt. 102, Branchville Road, across from Ancona’s Wine Store in Ridgefield. Free shuttles will run from the school to and from Weir Farm National Historic Site continuously between 2:00 and 6:00 PM. No parking is available at Weir Farm National Historic Site or along neighborhood residential roads.

Tickets also will be sold the day of the event. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted. Adult tickets are $20.Tickets for students 13-18 are $10. Children 12 and under are free. As usual the concert will go on rain or shine.

“Jazz in the Garden” concerts are held in memory of Les Young, a long-time Weir Farm Art Center supporter, education advocate, and State Representative from New Canaan.
