Job Opening: Wilton Seeks Youth Services Coordinator

The Town of Wilton seeks a Youth Services Coordinator on a part-time basis (20 hours per week) to identify and develop a network of human service programs to which Wilton youth can be referred that will support positive growth in the area of mental health. This position also maintains contact with area providers in order to be knowledgeable about the service options available to Wilton youth and their parents.

Essential functions include: establishing and maintaining contact with school support services personnel, police youth officers, agencies, and service providers to coordinate interventions as needed; provide counseling referrals as necessary; interface with the Wilton Youth Council, Trackside Teen Center, Wilton YMCA, and other non-profit, youth-focused entities to identify youth problems and needs and assist in developing solutions; maintain needs assessment information on Wilton youth, including a directory of available resources for meeting service needs; and identify, apply for, and administer funding sources for youth-related services in accordance with Town procedures.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Ability to communicate and work effectively with youth, parents, and youth-involved
agencies and organizations;
Ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy in dealing with program participants, program leaders,
other employees, the public, news media, local and state agencies, and the Commission of
Social Services;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups and
individuals; and
Ability to prepare concise and accurate oral and written reports.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in social work or a closely-related field;
Minimum of two years of experience in social work or a similar field; and
Knowledge of local and state assistance resources.
Compensation: Up to $35 per hour, depending on qualifications.
