WILTON, CT — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday. July 4 is tomorrow, so there’s still time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.
We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Wilton so you can start planning now.

What: The Wilton Parks & Recreation Department's Freedom Run 5K Road Race. Multiple categories are available to choose from, including junior and youth. Register online through e-Trak. Participant fees are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 14 and under. All participants receive a race t-shirt. Advance registration is encouraged. Same day registration is allowed.
Where: The Wilton High School stadium track at 395 Danbury Road

When: The Freedom Run begins at 8:30 a.m. on July 4. Participants should arrive by 8:15 a.m.
What: Wilton Live DJ and Fireworks Show
Where: Wilton High School at 395 Danbury Road
When: Live DJ music begins at 5:00 p.m. on July 4, followed by fireworks at sundown, approximately 9:00 p.m.
Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic or visit the multiple food trucks. This event is free, but
there is a fee for parking.
Advance-purchase only parking passes are available for the following premium parking lots:
- Route 7 Tennis Courts
- Cider Mill School
- Wilton Board of Education
- Wilton Athletic Fields – lots along Lilly Way
- Route 7/School Road gravel lot.
Passes are $35 per vehicle and can be purchased online through e-Trak or in-person at the Parks and Recreation office, 180 School Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Passes must be purchased by July 1st at 4:00 p.m. Passes must be picked up from the Parks and Recreation office between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday by July 1st. If you prefer to have your pass mailed to you, you must purchase your pass online no later than June 20th, and call 203-834-6234 to have it mailed. Parks & Rec does not guarantee delivery by the post office.
On July 4th, first come, first serve, parking for a cash-only fee of $20 is available at the following parking lots: Middlebrook, Lilly Field, Stamford Health (372 Danbury Road) and Allen’s Meadow.
In the event of inclement weather for these events, call the Parks & Rec hotline at 203-454-5188 for updates. The rain date for the fireworks display is July 5th.
What: Fairfield County Bank is sponsoring fireworks in Ridgefield on July 9.
Where: Ridgefield High School, 700 North Salem Road. Parking passes are $20 per car, and available at Town Hall, Fairfield County Bank and online here.
When: July 9. Gates open at 6 p.m.
What: Weston's Family 4th Celebration, presented by Weston Parks & Recreation and Fairfield County Bank
Where: Weston Middle School, 135 School Road, Weston
When: July 4. Weston Middle School gates open at 4:30 p.m. There will be no entry from Lords Highway after 7:00 p.m. Organizers are encouraging residents to arrive before 8:00 p.m. to avoid the fireworks traffic rush.
