Local Athletes Excel at Junior Olympics

Local athletes from the greater CT area compete and excel at the Junior Olympics in Richmond, Va.

This Past Weekend a Multitude of Students represented the State of Connecticut and Candlewood Fencing Center at the Junior Olympics in Richmond, Virginia in the Sport of Fencing.

A standout this weekend was Owen Prevey-Sullivan of Redding who placed 22nd of Over 190 athletes in the Under 17 Men’s Sabre. This Result earns him national points towards World Team Qualification. He will now be ranked 27th in the Country in Under 17 and Top 8 in the 14 and Under Category.

Natalie Chun of Weston, Susannah Kleiner of Orangetown NY, and Owen Prevey Sullivan have now Qualified to Both Under 17 Sabre and Under 20 Sabre in their respective genders at the National Championships thru their performances at Junior Olympics.


Brad Devito of Ridgefield, Rahul Tasker of Trumbull, Conor Rounds of Clifton Park NY, Liam Smith of Wilton, Adlai Brandt-Ogman of Salem NY, Greg Milani of Brewster NY qualified for Under 20 at Nationals. Other Athletes That Competed were Sydney Hirsch of Woodbridge, Gaby Chau of Newtown, and David Hite of New Fairfield.
