Major Roadwork Project To Impact Route 106 In Wilton

Aquarion and state transportation officials said excavation and paving work will begin next week.

WILTON, CT — A months-long construction project is set to begin next week on Route 106 in Wilton, bringing detours and traffic impacts through October.

According to Wilton Police, Aquarion Water Company will begin roadway excavation and paving work on New Canaan Road (Route 106) between Old Boston Road and the New Canaan town line during the week of June 1.

Officials said the project is expected to continue through October.

Aquarion and the Connecticut Department of Transportation are coordinating the work, which includes roadway excavation and repaving. Construction hours are expected to run from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., though officials said work hours could be extended until 7 p.m. to speed completion.

During construction, traffic will be detoured using Old Boston Road and Old Kings Highway.

Officials said emergency vehicles will be granted immediate access through the work area and bus stops will remain in their current locations.
