Man Appears at Ex's Workplace, Starts Breaking Things: Wilton PD

Police say he smashed items inside the business as well as cars in the parking lot

WILTON, CT — Police charged a man with criminal mischief and harassment when he appeared at his ex's place of business and began smashing things.

Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call placed from a business on Danbury Road a little before 11:30 in the morning on March 7. The caller reported that a co-worker's ex-boyfriend had arrived at the business and was angry while demanding his laptop computer., according to police.

While police were en route, the man smashed items at the business and vehicles in the parking lot, according to the police report. He then fled the scene, driving north on Danbury Road. Police located the vehicle and pulled him over on Danbury Road a short distance from the business.

Police identified the man as Robert Berger, 56, of Spring Hill Avenue in Norwalk

Following an investigation, police arrested Berger and charged him with 2 counts of second-degree harassment, 2 counts of second-degree threatening, 1 count of third-degree criminal mischief and 1 count of disorderly conduct.

Berger was released after posting a $25,000 bond, and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on March 8.
