Police have charged a dump truck driver with criminal mischief after they say he slashed a 71-year-old woman's tire in Wilton.
WILTON, CT — Police have charged a dump truck driver with criminal mischief after they say he slashed a 71-year-old woman's tire in Wilton.
The woman called the Wilton Police Department on Wednesday shortly before 4 p.m. She told police that she watched an orange dump truck traveling fast on Cannon and Pimpewaug Road, and followed it "to try and get its information," according to their report.
The woman exited her vehicle to take photos of the truck's Department of Transportation identification number and license plate after it had stopped at Danbury Road and Pimpewaug Road, according to police.

The woman told police that after she returned to her vehicle, the truck's driver, Joseph Ferraro, 25, of East Rocks Road in Norwalk, approached its passenger side.
"He asked her if she was okay and while crouched next to her window he stuck a screwdriver into her front passenger side tire, and returned to his truck," according to a news release from the Wilton PD.

After locating Ferraro, police charged him with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief. He was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Apr. 5.
