Man Tried to 'Groom' 11-Year-Old for Child Porn: Police

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a Massachusetts man for connecting over the internet with an 11-year-old Wilton girl to obtain child pornography.

Wilton police responded to a complaint about a 56-year-old man contacting a local underage girl via the internet. The man, Mark Crowley, of Beverly, MA, was allegedly "grooming" the 11-year-old in an attempt to obtain pornographic images of children. The Wilton PD collaborated with the Beverly police to obtain arrest warrants and search warrants.

Wilton police officers traveled to Beverly on Oct. 17 and searched Crowley's home. There they seized electronic evidence, according to the police report. Crowley was charged as a Fugitive of Justice, and was extradited from MA to CT on Oct. 25.

Crowley was charged with Risk of Injury to a Child, and Enticing a Minor by Computer. He is being held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 26.
