The information on the check was forged in order to defraud the victim of $5,000.

WILTON, CT — Police arrested a man on larceny and forgery charges after he turned himself in at Wilton PD headquarters.
Edwin McCray, 27, of Jeffrey Road in Springfield, MA had been wanted on charges stemming from the theft of a check from a residential mailbox in September. The information on the check was forged in order to defraud the victim of $5,000.
During the investigation, McCray was caught on video depositing the victim's check into his personal banking account in a bank in Springfield, police say. The bank assisted the investigation by helping to identify McCray.
