NEW CANAAN, CT – Sorelle Gallery is delighted to announce it’s next exhibition entitled “A Moment in Time” by Julia Contacessi and Carol Young. The exhibition will be on display at Sorelle’s New Canaan location from March 12th to April 14th. An opening reception and Lecture will be held Thursday, March 12th from 5:00 to 8:00pm. The artists will talk about their work beginning at 6:30pm.
A moment in time. This is what local, internationally recognized and award-winning artists Julia Contacessi and Carol Young seek to capture in their delicately executed, contemporary paintings.
Influenced by Helen Frankenthaler and Patricia Larsen, the abstract painter Julia Contacessi states, “My style is single-minded and focused on the simplicity of beauty in the moment. My goal is to drown out the noise and clutter to find a sense of calm. The end result is clean, fresh and modern.” Texture, color and composition culminate to form smile-inducing, atmospheric masterworks.

Carol Young expertly combines a freshly modern technique with classic subject matter in her paintings of America’s rural landscape. She is intrigued by structures that have outlived generations, saying, “I want to capture the beauty of history in an old farmhouse or barn, before the ever-changing landscape changes again…” By boldly using light, shadow, color and shape, Young creates an iconic memory of “times gone by”.
