Music of Scandinavia
Music on the Hill celebrates "Music of Scandinavia" in a concert pairing the Festival Chorus with the professional Chamber Chorus.
Join Music on the Hill on Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m. at the Wilton Presbyterian Church for "Music of Scandinavia."
Music on the Hill singers, led by Artistic Director David H. Connell, will perform music spanning a range of time and styles, from Grieg and Sibelius to timeless folk melodies, a choral Sakkijarven Polkka, and new works by Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen and Swedish composer Mårten Jansson.
"Choral music has a particular place in these countries," says Dr. Connell. With deeply historic roots -- in cathedral choirs and the choral societies of ancient universities -- choral music “helps to weave the social fabric” in lands of awe-inspiring natural beauty.

"Music of Scandinavia" is presented free of charge as a gift to the community, with sponsorship from the Danish American Club of Greenwich.

About Music on the Hill
Music on the Hill promotes engagement with music by offering workshops, a Summer Sings series, and opportunities to perform through four ensembles -- Summer Chorus, Festival Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir -- all under the leadership of Artistic Directors David H. Connell (D.M.A.) and Ellen Dickinson (M.M.).
Music on the Hill, based in Wilton, is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to high quality music performance and education for all ages. It is funded by generous donors and by a grant from the CT Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
