Next Step Living, New England’s leading proder of whole-home energy solutions, and the Wilton Congregational Church are pleased to announce Stewardship Saves Energy, a program to help Wilton homeowners lower their monthly utility bills and live more sustainably and to reward the church for taking action to help the environment.
“We share a commitment with the Wilton Congregational Church to help reduce our carbon footprint, lower energy costs and improve the comfort of our homes,” said Gabe Shapiro, vice president of outreach programs at Next Step Living.
By signing up for Energize CTSM HES Assessments, Wilton homeowners help Wilton Congregational qualify for energy-efficiency upgrades. The more completed assessments, the more upgrades:

“Wilton Go Green is delighted to see this partnership between a faith community, the Wilton Congregational Church and Next Step Living. Through this arrangement, Wilton will continue to lower its energy usage, diminish its carbon footprint and be in the forefront of Connecticut towns whose residents have embraced energy savings steps.” said Jana Bertkau, vice president of Wilton Go Green and a Wilton Congregational Church member.
An HES visit provides a thorough overview of how to make homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer while shrinking monthly utility bills and reducing adverse effects on the environment. It takes about four hours, includes various complimentary On-the-Spot Services and leaves the homeowner with an action plan of recommended next steps that could lead to years of benefits. The assessment is valued at about $1,000 by Energize Connecticut, including a $99 copay. (Ratepayers already pay a monthly Combine Benefit Charge on their utility bill for the Energize Connecticut program, which promotes energy efficiency.)
Wilton homeowners can learn more about it and energy efficiency at a September 17 workshop, Home Energy 101: Beginner’s Guide to Energy Efficiency. Held at the Wilton Congregational Church at 70 Ridgefield Road the workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. and will include light refreshments. (To RSVP, please email Pam@WiltonCongregational.org.)
