Obituary: Donald W. Falkenberg, 85, Of Wilton
Don's successful career progressed from an entry-level position to Vice President, Compensation at AXA-Equitable.
WILTON, CT — Donald W. Falkenberg, age 85, of Naples, FL and Wilton, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2021 at home after a brave battle with leukemia. For 50 years, Don was the beloved husband of Anne L. Skillin. He was born July 10, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY from humble beginnings. He graduated from Ft. Hamilton High School in 1954, then courageously served the country he loved in the United States Army until 1956.
Don earned a B.S. degree in Business from Hofstra University in 1972. During his successful career, he progressed from an entry-level position with Mobile Oil Company to Vice President, Compensation at AXA-Equitable. He was respected as an expert in his chosen field of compensation, where he was admired for his extensive knowledge and integrity.
Throughout his life, the music of Frank Sinatra was one of Don’s greatest pleasures. On Sundays he could be found in front of the TV rooting for his favorite football team, the NY Giants! He was a lifelong fitness enthusiast including running, cardio and strength training which helped maintain his youthful appearance.

His love and passion for travel brought him much joy as he explored many exciting places around the globe with Anne. A few of his favorites were Budapest, Prague, and Italy which he would recall with great detail while regaling his family with stories of their adventures.
He enjoyed his retirement years in Naples, Florida where he appreciated going to the theater, restaurants and spending quality time with his daughters.

Don was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather (Pop-Pop) who is survived by his wife Anne; sister Arlene and her husband Ray; daughter Elaine and her husband Charles of FL; daughter Carol Ann and her husband Sean of FL; and step-son Chris Skillin and his wife Lee and their three adoring children Julia, Charlotte and Nick, each of whom were treasured by Don. He will be forever loved and missed by his family who will honor and cherish his memory.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately for the immediate family.
