Obituary: Ronald R. Parris, 88, Of Wilton

After serving aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, Ron became the Eastern Territory sales manager for Velcro USA, Inc.

WILTON, CT — Ronald R. Parris, 88, of Wilton, beloved husband of Noreen Farrell Parris, passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2023, at Norwalk Hospital. Ronald was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of H. Clifford and Eleanor Stein Parris, he was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Parris, brother Clifford Parris and stepson John Sponza.

Growing up, Ronald attended Woodbury High School in Connecticut and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42 Aircraft Carrier which afforded him many great stories and recollections of his tour in the Mediterranean while serving his country. Ron was honorably discharged in 1958 and upon his return to the states, he became the Eastern Territory sales manager for Velcro USA, Inc. Ron’s outgoing and approachable personality made him a natural sales leader. These personality traits also made him a great partner, friend, and parent. He and Noreen would join their many friends at Shore and Country Club in Norwalk, to celebrate all that life had to offer by attending dances, barbeques, playing tennis, and boating.

In addition to Noreen, he is survived by his beloved cat Pepper, his children, Kimberly Sponza (Judee Beardsley), Sharon Figi, Robert Parris and Linda Parris Farina (Kevin), as well as his grandchildren, Dr. Jake Figi, 1st Lieutenant Lucas Figi, USMC (graduate of the US Naval Academy), Alex Farina (Molly), Emily Farina, and his honorary grandchildren, Michael J., Chris, and Kyle Barnett, as well as his sister Eleanor Swanson, her husband Cliff and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Friday, February 24 from 5-7 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk.
