Obituary: Sister Mary Theresa Prior, 87, of Wilton

WILTON, CT -- Sister Mary Theresa Prior, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, died on Sunday, June 24, at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, at age 87.

Eileen Prior was born on May 9, 1931, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of John Prior and Mary Heslin of Boston.

After pronouncing her vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame in 1952, she began teaching at St. John the Evangelist School in Bergenfield, N.J. She also taught at Catholic schools in Brooklyn, N.Y., Trumbull, Westport, Springfield, N.J., and Roxbury, Mass. In her retirement Sister resided at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton. She moved to Lourdes in 2016.

Friends may call at Villa Notre Dame, 345 Belden Hill Road, Wilton, on Tuesday, June 26, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a Christian wake service at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, in the chapel at Villa Notre Dame. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cornell Memorial Home, in Danbury, Conn.
