Optimum Community Announces 7th Annual 'Hispanic Heritage Month' Student Essay Contest in Partnership with Olympusat

Open to MS and HS Students, Contest Provides Opportunity to Reflect on Rich Heritage of Hispanic Americans

Bethpage, NY, September 25, 2014 – For the seventh consecutive year, Cablevision’s Optimum Community and Olympusat, Inc. are proud to sponsor the “Hispanic Heritage Month” essay contest in recognition of the rich heritage of Hispanic Americans. Open to middle-school (grades 6 through 8) and high-school (grades 9 through 12) students, the 2014 contest poses the question, “Name a Latino, past or present, with whom you would choose to spend a day and explain why.”

All essays must be submitted in English either through the Optimum Community web site www.optimum.net/community, emailed to edinfo@cablevision.com, or mailed to Cablevision: Attention Optimum Community, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714. Entries will be accepted from September 15 through November 1 and cannot exceed 500 words. Four winners in both the middle- and high-school grade levels will be selected and announced in December 2014. Prizes include a $2500 cash scholarship (Grand Prize), an Apple iPad (First Prize), a laptop computer (Second Prize) and a Kindle Fire (Third Prize). Olympusat, Inc. is the provider of such Spanish language channels as CubaPlay and TV Chile, all available on Optimum TV en Espanol programming service.
