Police: 3 Shops Fail Tobacco Compliance Inspections In Wilton
In a sting conducted alongside agents from state law enforcement, the Wilton PD cited three shops for selling tobacco products to minors.
WILTON, CT — In a sting operation conducted alongside State agencies, the Wilton PD cited three businesses for selling tobacco or vaping products to minors.
On Aug. 29, the Wilton Police Department and staff members of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services conducted unannounced compliance inspections of eight shops that sell tobacco and electronic nicotine delivery products. An underage youth, employed by DMHAS, entered the establishment and attempted to purchase vaping products.
Three of the shops made the sale, in violation of the state law. Two of the three offending clerks were issued an infraction in the amount of $300 for the first offense, and one was issued an infraction in the amount of $750 for a second offense within twenty-four months.

Found to be in violation were:
- Mohegan Smoke Shop, 14 Danbury Road, second offense
- Mobil Gas Station, 46 Danbury Road, first offense
- Shell Food Mart, 210 Danbury Road
Mohegan Smoke Shop and the Shell Food Mart were also found to be in violation of legislation regulating the sale of cannabis products. In collaboration with staff from the Department of Consumer Protection, several cannabis items were seized.

- PVC Gulf LLC, 287 Danbury Road
- Citgo/Wheels, 386 Danbury Road
- Snack Shop, 912 Danbury Road
- Mobil Snack Shop, 932 Danbury Road
- Grassy Plain Smoke Shop, 991 Danbury Road
