UPDATE: Man Denies 'Road Rage' Charge in Wilton

The man denied all accusations, stating that he was instead reaching for his cell phone because he was scared he was going to get beat up.

WILTON, CT — Police responded to a report of a "road rage" incident involving threatening with a firearm early Friday morning.

At 7:13 on Aug. 16, police answered a 9-1-1 call from a motorist who reported that a vehicle struck the side of his vehicle and continued "driving aggressively," according to the police report.

While officers were in route they were informed by dispatch that the suspect was driving a 1996 Acura 3.5 RL and was last scene in the area of Wilridge Road. Dispatch contacted the Ridgefield Police Department and provided them with the suspect vehicle description.

Officers from the Ridgefield PD were able to stop the vehicle in their town and detain the driver, Kirk Andersen, 36, of Howard Avenue in Bridgeport, until Wilton officers arrived on scene.

After a short investigation police determined that a road rage incident occurred in the area of Danbury Road and School Street, following the accusations of the victim that Anderson struck the victim's vehicle while merging at Danbury Road and Olmstead Hill Road.

Police determined that Andersen threatened to shoot the victim and was reaching behind his back while making the threat, according to their report. Andersen denied all accusations and stated that he was instead reaching for his cell phone because he was scared he was going to get beat up.

Andersen was charged with breach of peace and first-degree threatening, and held on a $5,000 bond.
