Police Charge Teens With Car Theft
The pair led the cops on a chase, first by car, then by foot into the woods.
WILTON, CT — Police charged two teens with car theft and other crimes after being led on an early morning chase.
On Sunday at around 4 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a resident on Old Huckleberry Road who reported seeing several individuals enter vehicles in their driveway. When they arrived on the scene they saw a vehicle leaving the area, and gave pursuit to the vehicle, which increased in speed.
Police determined the vehicle had been stolen out of Branford, following a registration check.

The car was eventually stopped by officers on the Route 7 Connector. The occupants, a 17-year-old male driving a 16-year-old female in the rear seat, fled into a wooded area off of the highway.
The juveniles, both from Waterbury, were apprehended and taken into custody. Property recovered inside the stolen vehicle as well as in proximity to the vehicle provided evidence of the vehicle's passengers being involved in several motor vehicle burglaries in the area.

Both were charged with possession of less than a half-ounce of cannabis, third degree burglary, third degree conspiracy to commit burglary, first degree conspiracy to commit larceny, first degree larceny, sixth degree larceny, and sixth degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

The boy was released to the custody of a parent with a Juvenile Summons to appear in Juvenile Matters of Waterbury, and was also issued a Misdemeanor Summons to appear at Norwalk Superior Court for motor vehicle charges related to the incident.
An Order to Detain was approved for the girl, and she was transported to a Juvenile Detention Center.
