Reuters: Wilton AIG Unit Set to Pay Delayed Bonuses

Reuters provides an update on the delayed bonus payments for several current and former employees of AIG's Wilton-based Financial Products Division.

According to Reuters, AIG is set to pay out another large round of bonuses, in spite of the fact that the company received $182.3 billion in federal bailout money and that many of those set to receive the bonuses no longer work for the insurance giant.

Last year, AIG's $165 million bonus payout in March sparked a public backlash that extended to "several demonstrations, including a bus tour of employee homes near the [Financial Products] unit's Wilton, Connecticut headquarters, and threats to others," Reuters' report states.

It also mentions that around 40 percent of those set to receive payments this March no longer work for AIG in any capacity, though their legal representation stated that this should have no bearing on whether or not they receive the compensation delineated in their contracts.
