Sensible Wilton May Seek Legal Action if Second Vote Not Called on Miller-Driscoll

The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to discuss the matter on May 18.

According to the paper, Sensible Wilton sent a legal memo to First Selectman Bill Brennan.

The organization’s attorney, Simon W. Reiff wrote to the First Selectman asking the Board of Selectmen to respect its legal obligations under the Town Charter and to submit the petition for a vote at a Special Town Meeting, the paper reports.

The petition was delivered by Sensible Wilton on Jan. 8 to the Clerk of the Town of Wilton calling for a Special Town Meeting to consider a revote of the $50 million renovation at Miller-Driscoll Elementary.

Over 1,100 Wilton citizens signed the organization’s petition for a revote, according to Sensible Wilton’s website.

Ken Bernhard, Wilton’s legal counsel has argued that his client had no obligation to call a revote.

The case is also up for executive review by the State Elections Enforcement Commission on May 19, the paper reports. The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to discuss the petition on May 18 at 7:30 p.m.
