Please prepare a brief excerpt from a song in the style of the show that shows off your range, particularly if you are auditioning for the roles of JUPITER, AMPHITRYON, MERCURY or ALCMENE. Please have sheet music in the proper key. Wear loose clothing and proper footwear in case we need to see you dance. Actors also will be asked to read sides from the script.
Show dates are April 24 through May 9, with the possible addition of May 10.
Copies of the script will be available at the New Canaan Library from February 10-24. Here’s a promotional video from Samuel French: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-rUH52g3sw. The album from the Off-Broadway show is available on ITunes and Amazon.

THE PLAY
Olympus On My Mind is set in the ancient city of Thebes during the course of a 41-hour day. It is based on the Greek myth of Amphitryon, in which Jupiter (Zeus) comes to Earth to woo the beautiful Alcmene. He appears to her in the form of her absent husband Amphitryon, and quickly wins her love. Things go swimmingly until the real Amphitryon shows up. The chorus consists of Tom, Dick, Horace and the delightfully dizzy Dolores (who is only in the show because she is the wife of its financial backer.)
