UPDATE: Restoration Continues On Wilton Stadium Track and Turf

Work begins on Tuesday to remove debris which still remains within the north section of the field.

WILTON, CT — Additional steps in the restoration work for the Wilton Stadium track and turf have been identified, which will push back their reopening to Oct. 11. Both areas remain off limites t residents until then.

Work begins on Tuesday to remove debris which still remains within the north section of the field, according to an email to residents from First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice. The work had been scheduled for last Thursday, but was delayed due to rain.

Following the removal of the debris, the sand and coconut infill will be installed, after which the entire turf field must be sanitized. All of the above are multi-day processes.

"On September 9th, we estimated cleanup and restoration might require up to four weeks. Unfortunately, that plus a bit more appears to be required as we work towards a targeted reopening by Columbus Day," Vanderslice said.
