Vanderslice Proposes 1.89% Increase For Wilton Town Budget

The proposed spending plan, totaling $34,119,884, represents a 1.89% increase over the current year's budget, or a hike of $634,398.

WILTON, CT — First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice has presented her 2023 municipal budget to the Board of Selectmen.

The new spending plan, totaling $34,119,884, represents a 1.89 percent increase over the current year's budget, or a hike of $634,398.

The proposed budget accommodates a new Parks and Grounds worker ($69,000), a new Public Works Department engineer ($130,000), and a new position: town administrator ($259,000). The expanded payroll follows six years of staffing reductions, according to Vanderslice's presentation to the BOS.

The position of the new administrator is meant to ensure continuity through a change of first selectperson or regardless of a new selectperson's knowledge, work to secure new and support existing grants, and identify and implement additional cost savings.

Wages and a grant for the Wilton Library are the largest budget drivers. Payroll is up $830,595 in the proposed budget, and the library expense would be $172,761 above the previous spending plan's allotment.
