WEATHER UPDATE: Days of Rain, Thunderstorms Expected This Week

We’ve been missing something this past month, but Mother Nature will do her best this week to make up for lost time.

Rain, yes rain, is back in the forecast in a big way this week for the entire state of Connecticut.

The National Weather Service has already issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Hartford and Tolland counties for strong and potentially damaging wind gusts, heavy rains and possible flooding, which is possible Tuesday night through Friday.

Up to 4 inches of rain in some spots in northern Connecticut is possible, but that will not be widespread, the weather service writes.

For Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties we don’t have any advisories right now, but it’s good to see rain in the forecast for multiple days again considering the “moderate drought” conditions along southern Connecticut.

Here are the specifics of the forecast:

Monday: Summer holds on as temps hit 80 degrees

Monday night: Slight chance of showers

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, temps in the 70s

Tuesday night: Steadier rain expected for all of Connecticut, up to an inch of rain is possible

Wednesday: More showers and thunderstorms but you’ll notice the fall-like temps as we’re back into the 60s. Another half inch to up to an inch of rain is expected.

Thursday: A break from the rain but even chillier temps, low 60s and cloudy skies on the shoreline and some sun inland.

Friday: Saturday, and Sunday, low 60s with a chance of showers each day.
