Wilton Boy With Stuttering Problem Receives Letter from Tiger Woods

A Wilton boy recently received a very special letter in the mail.

The boy who has been bullied for stuttering received a letter from Tiger Woods, who also stuttered as a child.

The letter was published in Golf Digest on Tuesday.

“I know what it’s like to be different and to sometimes not fit in. I also stuttered as a child and I would talk to my dog and he would sit there and listen until he fell asleep,” Woods wrote. “I also took a class for two years to help me, and I finally learned to stop.”

According to Golf Digest, Woods reached out to the boy identified as Dillon after a story in Golf Digest that shared an email Dillon’s mom wrote to Sophie Gustafson. Gustafson is a Swedish professional golfer who also suffers from a stutter.

Gustafson had been mentoring Dillon.

The email talked about Dillon’s struggle with his stutter and the bullying he faced that made him attempt suicide. His mother asked if there was any way Dillon’s story could be shared and mentioned that Dillon is a huge fan of Tiger Woods.

Soon after the story was published on Golf Digest, Dillon received the letter from Woods.

“Be well and keep fighting,” Woods wrote. “I’m certain you’ll be great at anything you do.”
