The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Guiding the development/ that is coming to our town so as to bring greater vitality to Wilton Town Center and our other commercial zones, offer greater housing options that meet the needs of all ages/demographics, and expand our grand list to place the town on a firmer financial footing. The Plan of Conservation and Development, that I worked on as a P&Z Commissioner, provides our plan for achieving these objectives and the Master Plan that is currently under development will provide greater clarity and specificity for Wilton Town Center. On the Board of Selectmen, my P&Z experience will allow me to offer important leadership on these important initiatives. We must stay focused on executing the Plan of Conservation and Development, completing the Master Planning process, and then executing on the Master Plan.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
My decade-plus P&Z experience in town, including active participation in each of the last two Plans of Conservation and Development, and my legal background are important differentiators. In my P&Z service, I've demonstrated my careful, and thoughtful and respectful approach to addressing matters that impact our town.
Accomplishments:
Again, my P&Z experience demonstrates my longstanding commitment to the town and my ability to consider and address issues that require balancing of competing interests in the best interest of the community-as-a-whole. I would also point to the many leadership roles I have held on not-for-profit boards, where I have helped to build consensus around Board initiatives (CT Legal Services, World Affairs Forum (Board Chair), Women's Business Development Council, and Child Guidance Center of Mid-Fairfield (Board Chair)).
Other issues:
I believe that Wilton must maintain a forward-looking focus on sustainability issues and initiatives, including attention to open space opportunities and responsibilities, continued progress on the River Walk and other /bike and pedestrian pathways, water resources, energy conservation, waste reduction, ad household composting. Of course, and any initiatives that we undertake must maintain our AAA bond rating and be fiscally prudent.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
My wife and I have lived in Wilton since 1992 (29 years) and have enjoyed the boundless benefits that this town offers so freely – terrific schools for our two sons, the joys of seasonal sports, the beauty of Wilton’s open spaces, and a nurturing and supportive community. It would be an honor to serve on the Board of Selectmen and I would give 150% to pursuing the best interests of the town in that role.
