The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
I feel the repercussions from the pandemic on our children is the most pressing issue right now. There is unfinished learning for many but the social emotional impact is where we need to find way to help the children navigate what has happened to them. We need to keep them safe and ensure their learning is not disrupted as much as possible.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I have been an educator my entire career in Wilton. I have been an advocate for giving children the right tools to learn and making sure they feel success. I know the school system and I care about providing the schools the tools and resources teachers and administrators need to provide what the children need.
Accomplishments:
I was the Director of a school in town and helped many families through the beginning years of school. I have studied educational theories and taught many of them and know that a good school system thrives on the partnership between parent and teacher. We need to foster those relationships to help our children thrive.
Other issues:
More communication between parents and the schools and transparency and more importantly to get the information delivered in a way that doesn't overwhelm. There is often information that could be sent in a more comprehensive package.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I am a strong believer in the public school system. I want the children to find success in their learning and know that the town supports their efforts. The partnership between parent and teacher is important and needs to be fostered. Everyone will gain when we as a community come together to help the schools teach our children and celebrate their learning.
