Family in government: no
The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
Maintaining the responsible use of our town's tax revenues while balancing the need to expand our grand list in a thoughtful and responsible way. I have been intensely following, and bringing awareness to, and the recent state proposals that would take away local control of our planning and zoning. I will advocate for Wilton that we retain the ability to make our own decisions and decide where best to allow development in our town. I also have a working understanding of our town's financial system and how our local government works. I have the education and work experience needed to understand the town budget and financial background to know how to ensure we use our funds responsibility.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I have extensive understanding of Wilton town government. I have a significant and substantial history in local volunteer service, including leadership positions at Wilton Library and Wilton Youth Council. I have a background in audit and taxation which makes me unique among the other candidates.
Accomplishments:
I have proven I can handle the Board of Selectmen position as I have held numerous leadership roles in other Wilton organizations over the 13 years I have lived in Wilton. I am co-chair of Minks to Sinks, the largest bi-annual tag sale in CT. Our proceeds go to support Family and Children’s Agency which provides services to those in need/at risk in our area. We just had our first sale after having to cancel the past 3 due to the pandemic. We have over 100 volunteers. As Treasurer and member of the Executive and Finance Committees of the Wilton Library, I have ensured that our tax dollars, that fund approximately 75 % of our budget, have been spent responsibly. I was a member of the Library’s Executive Committee that made the decisions on how to reopen the Library and provide services safely and responsibility throughout the pandemic. I have been very involved in Wilton schools volunteering with book fairs, class trips, sports days, library assistant. I am a volunteer tax preparer, thru the AARP, and serving clients in the Stamford area.
Other issues:
I believe in fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability. I support expanding Wilton’s amenities for all residents and incentivizing seniors to stay in the town they built and love. I will cultivate and improve Wilton’s economy by supporting our local businesses. I support our local law enforcement who foster a safe, thriving community where we all feel a sense of belonging and well-being. I will further Wilton’s efforts as a leader in both environmental sustainability and green, and open space.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I have lived in town for over 13 years and my family loves living in Wilton. My husband and I have raised our children here. We also have 2 dogs and a cat. I am a retired auditor with PwC and certified public accountant. I hold a BS in accounting from Manhattan College. Wilton is a warm and welcoming place and I want to ensure it remains that way.
