Wilton High School Grad Nominated For TV Academy Award

Wilton High School grad Jackson Dill has been nominated for the Television Academy Foundation's 41st College Television Awards.

WILTON, CT — A Wilton High School graduate is in contention for a Television Academy award.

Jackson Dill, currently a senior at the University of Miami, has been nominated for the Television Academy Foundation's 41st College Television Awards along with six of his classmates, in the News & Sports category for his writing on UMTV NewsVision. NewsVision is the University of Miami's weekly student-produced newscast.

The College Television Awards recognizes and rewards excellence in student-produced programs from colleges and universities nationwide. Winners in the competition will be announced by television stars at the awards ceremony on Mar. 26.

"This NewsVision episode included a variety of stories from on campus and across the state of Florida," said Dill. "My role in the show was writing several of the stories, tosses, lead-ins and tags for the various packages and voiceovers included in the program."

Dill is currently a weather producer and fill-in anchor at a local TV station in Miami. He said he sees himself as a broadcast meteorologist in the future."

A total of 54 students have been nominated in six categories for the 2022 awards selected from 185 entries submitted from 58 colleges nationwide.

Designed to emulate the Emmy® Awards, student entries are judged by Television Academy members; three projects are nominated in six categories. Criteria for the College Television Awards reflect industry standards of excellence, imagination and innovation.
